Keith Wilkinson

Author: Peter Radburn
Date: 03 Apr 2023

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Keith Wilkinson at the age of 73. He was captain of KCC 1stXI from 1990 to 1995. This followed a career with Worcestershire CCC where he played 49 first Class matches as an opening batsman and useful medium pacer.

He was a formidable player in the Birmingham League for many years and enjoyed great success with Old Hill winning the National Club Knock Out trophy 3 times.

They were always tough opponents in the League. Keith became a very widely respected captain and Kidderminster were fortunate to benefit from his skills during the early 1990’s. He also brought success winning the Express and Star Cup in 1994 and competing strongly in the National Knock Out competition and the Birmingham League.

Keith was always ready to pass on his huge experience to young cricketers and was a popular member of our club. In recent years Keith and his wife, Wendy, had settled in Yorkshire but found time to visit Chester Road every year to watch cricket and catch up with old friends.

He was great company and will be sadly missed.
