England Cricketers that have played for Kidderminster CC

Kidderminster Cricket Club has had some outstanding players. Here are six who have played for England.
In 1961, the former Lancashire and England spin-bowler Roy Tattersall, joined Kidderminster as their professional. The following year, Fred Rumsey a fast bowler on the Worcestershire staff, replaced Tattersall who remained at the club as an amateur. Rumsey joined Somerset soon after and within two years had made the England team playing 5 Tests in the mid 1960's.
Two more players who joined in 1964 and 1984 respectively, rose to greater fame, namely Basil D’Oliveira and Graeme Hick.
Basil spent a season with Kidderminster while qualifying for Worcestershire. His figures heralded of things to come. 15 innings-6 times not out-706 runs-highest 115-average 78.4. He also took 43 wickets at 16.7 each and held 7 catches. His fastest 50 came in 39 minutes and his 100 in 87 minutes. his best bowling figures were 8-29 at M & B. He went on to become a great favourite wherever he played in First Class cricket.
Graeme joined KCC at the tender age of 17 straight from his home in Zimbabwe. He soon showed his great ability both as a bowler, but principally as a batsman. He played for 4 seasons at Chester Road, but left his mark. His appearances reduced as he became an established member of the Worcestershire team. His best season for Kidderminster was 1984 when, in 21 innings, he scored 1234 runs at an average of 70 including five centuries and 3 ducks! His highest score was 182 not out at Moseley in 130 balls. He also scored 151 against Smethwick. With his offspin he took 19 wickets and also held 10 catches. A foretaste of what was to come.
Steven Davies began his career as a wicketkeeper at Victoria Carpets CC in the town at the age of 10 and joined Kidderminster CC to play in the Birmingham League a few years later. Having played in all the County age group teams, he was appointed captain of England Under 19's in 2004. He made his debut for Worcestershire in 2005 and moved to Surrey in 2010 and then Somerset in 2017. He has played in 8 ODI's and 5 20/20 full internationals.
James Taylor played for Kidderminster in 2007 whilst on the Academy at Worcestershire CCC. He returned to his home county of Leicestershire making his first class debut in 2008. He later moved to Nottinghamshire and played in 7 tests and 27 ODI's before his promising career was cut short by a serious heart condition. He is currently an England selector.
